Bumrah and Akash Deep return to India Test squad for New Zealand tour
Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep return to India's Test squad for New Zealand, while key players are rested from the final two ODIs to prepare for the longer format.
Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep have been recalled to India's 16-member Test squad for the two-match series in New Zealand starting 19 November at Basin Reserve, Wellington. Akash Deep returns after an eight-month injury layoff following stress-fracture rehabilitation.
Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Prasidh Krishna and Anshul Kamboj will play the first three ODIs before being rested for the final two matches to prepare for the Tests. Tilak Varma, Kumar Kushagra, Yash Thakur and Auqib Nabi replace them in the ODI squad. Rishabh Pant's inclusion remains subject to a fitness assessment at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
India need at least six wins from their remaining seven Tests to stay in contention for the World Test Championship final. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been left out of the ODI squad but will play three four-day matches for India-A in New Zealand.
