Ishan Kishan says format switch will be tough before Afghanistan series

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma admitted it will be tough to join India's T20I squad for the three-match series against Afghanistan immediately after the Duleep Trophy final. Both players acknowledged the challenge of switching formats with minimal preparation time but said professional cricketers cannot offer excuses for the schedule.

The series begins on 13 September, three days after the Duleep Trophy final concludes in Chennai. Several players will face the same transition challenge after completing domestic commitments.

Kishan said the experience gained from adapting to different conditions throughout their careers helps players manage such transitions. The quick turnaround tests both physical recovery and mental adjustment between formats.
