Joe Root breaks Tendulkar's record for most Test half-centuries

Joe Root overtook Sachin Tendulkar's record for most Test half-centuries during England's eight-wicket win that completed a 3-0 series sweep of Pakistan.

England captain Joe Root scored his 66th Test half-century to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's mark of 65. Root reached the milestone during the third Test against Pakistan at Edgbaston, where England completed an eight-wicket win to sweep the series 3-0.

Root finished unbeaten on 62 while Jordan Cox scored an unbeaten 59 in the chase of 130. England lost both openers in the first over of the innings before the pair guided the hosts home on the fourth day.

Pakistan dropped to their lowest-ever position in the ICC Test rankings after the 3-0 defeat. Root said the side had learned from the chaotic conditions and felt well placed for the winter tour of South Africa.
