Morne Morkel urges youngsters to seek advice from Kohli and Rohit

Morne Morkel said Kohli and Rohit will guide Shubman Gill's side as India begin their 2027 World Cup build-up with a three-match ODI series against West Indies.

India bowling coach Morne Morkel said the current generation should tap into the experience of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup. Morkel spoke ahead of India's three-match ODI series against West Indies that begins in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday. The series marks the first step in India's build-up to the tournament in South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.

Kohli and Rohit have both stated that the 2027 World Cup is their last chance at major silverware. Kohli told JioStar that conversations between the two have grown more intense and detailed as they focus on small improvements. Rohit has said he still has unfinished business in ODI cricket and the thought that his work is done will never cross his mind while he keeps playing.

India are expected to play between 14 and 20 ODIs before the World Cup. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed that Yashasvi Jaiswal will have to wait for opportunities behind Rohit and Shubman Gill at the top of the order.
