Lahore High Court dismisses Mohammad Rizwan's petition in betting probe

Rizwan must now respond directly to the agency after the court rejected his challenge.

The Lahore High Court has dismissed Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan's petition challenging summons issued by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum directed Rizwan to approach the agency and respond to the notices. The inquiry relates to alleged online betting and gambling in Pakistan cricket.

Rizwan's lawyer argued that the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit was the appropriate forum and that no formal notice had been served before his phone was confiscated. The NCCIA is conducting forensic examination of data from phones taken from Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq. The PCB is awaiting the agency's findings before deciding on any disciplinary action.
