Lahore HC dismisses Rizwan petition in NCCIA probe
Lahore High Court rejects Rizwan's challenge; PCB awaits NCCIA forensic report before deciding on disciplinary measures.
The Lahore High Court dismissed Mohammad Rizwan's petition challenging summons issued by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency. Chief Justice Aalia Neelum directed the wicketkeeper-batter to respond directly to the agency.
Rizwan's lawyer argued that the NCCIA lacked jurisdiction because the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit handles corruption matters, and that the player was interrogated without notice after the Lord's Test with his phone confiscated. The court rejected these claims.
The NCCIA is conducting forensic analysis of phones seized from Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq. The agency will submit its findings to the PCB next week, after which the board will decide on any disciplinary action. Rizwan has also contacted the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit seeking clarification on the phone seizure and forensic procedures.
