Sanath Jayasuriya backs Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Sanath Jayasuriya urged India to give Vaibhav Sooryavanshi opportunities, describing the 15-year-old as the future of Indian cricket.
Former Sri Lanka captain Sanath Jayasuriya says Vaibhav Sooryavanshi needs opportunities and room to grow. The 15-year-old hasn't played since India's T20I series against Zimbabwe, even though he scored 151 runs at 50.33 and struck match-winning knocks for India A against Sri Lanka A.
Head coach Gautam Gambhir has kept him behind Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma. Sooryavanshi was also left out of the one-off T20I against Japan. Jayasuriya isn't calling for instant promotion. He simply wants the door left ajar so the batter can walk through when his time comes.
