Saransh Jain finds rhythm after quiet start on Test debut in Colombo

Saransh Jain bowled 18 overs without success in his first spell on day five in Colombo. The off-spinner had been picked to exploit the rough created by left-arm spinners, and that plan only clicked once the pitch wore.

He changed his line and length, started to land the ball in the footmarks, and the left-handers began to misjudge the turn. The first wicket came when the rough outside off stump started to bite, and his economy tightened from that point.

India needed to finish the innings quickly, and Jain stayed on to bowl the overs that mattered most.
