Saransh Jain set to become India's oldest Test debutant of the 21st century

Saransh Jain will make his Test debut for India in the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo after replacing the unwell Kuldeep Yadav. At 33, he becomes the oldest Indian debutant in Tests this century.

An injury to Washington Sundar had already opened a door for off-spinners on this tour. Jain's selection completes a path that began when he chose to work on his red-ball game instead of pursuing IPL opportunities.

India captain Shubman Gill confirmed the change on the morning of the match, with Jain receiving his cap from Ravindra Jadeja shortly before the toss.
