Morkel sees West Indies ODIs as foundation for World Cup
Morkel views the West Indies series as preparation for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
India bowling coach Morne Morkel said the three-match ODI series against the West Indies is a foundation for next year's World Cup. The series begins on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram and runs through October 3, with India making changes to its squad due to Asian Games commitments. Morkel said the team held meetings this week to set standards and start building those foundations. He also addressed workload management and the need to develop all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy. India captain Shubman Gill suffered an elbow injury in the nets and has a day to recover before the first match.
