Australia head coach Andrew McDonald says the call on how many of their players can play the 2027 IPL will wait until after their five-Test tour of India. The Pakistan Cricket Board has warned more than a dozen former players of two-year sanctions after they played in an unsanctioned T20 league in Zambia. The Asian Legends League in Lusaka was stopped once the Zambia Cricket Union said it never approved the tournament.

Players who took part without the right approvals now face a two-year ban from getting NOCs for overseas leagues, and they won't be eligible for PCB or PSL assignments. Mohammad Hafeez, Sohail Tanvir and Umar Akmal pulled out once they heard approvals were missing.

Southern Brave were eliminated from both competitions after defeats to Manchester Super Giants.

Mitch Marsh's half-century helped Trent Rockets post 201 for 4 in the men's match before they chased down their target with ease. The victory moved Rockets eight points clear at the top of the men's Hundred table. MI London struggled to defend their total despite a competitive effort.

Southern Brave's elimination from both the men's and women's competitions leaves them with no further matches in the tournament.

Southern Brave's hopes of reaching The Hundred knockout stages ended after a 10-run defeat to Manchester Super Giants at Southampton. Moeen Ali and Tristan Stubbs produced two direct-hit run-outs to restrict the visitors, but the target proved just out of reach.

Super Giants lost eight wickets for 30 runs after reaching 119 for none, finishing on 149 for eight. Stubbs remained unbeaten on 53 in the chase, but Brave could not complete the required runs.

The result leaves four teams level on 16 points fighting for the final two knockout places, with Trent Rockets already assured of a top-three finish.

Mitchell Santner scored an unbeaten 52 off 23 balls as Trent Rockets beat MI London by six wickets at The Oval. The win moved Rockets to 24 points, eight ahead of the four teams on 16 points.

Rockets chased 148 after MI London posted 147 for seven. Sam Curran top-scored with 72 off 46 balls for the hosts.

Rockets need only to avoid defeat in their final group match against Southern Brave to secure a top-two finish and automatic qualification for the Lord's final.

Devdutt Padikkal's unbeaten 142 in the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI has strengthened his case for a Test debut at No. 3 in Galle. He absorbed early movement, rotated the strike with KL Rahul and then accelerated against spin once the ball began to turn.

Padikkal reached his hundred in 121 balls and showed the ability to smother turn with a long stride while sweeping when the spinners dropped short. His innings came after India had lost Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck in the first innings and needed a platform on a wearing pitch.

The performance matters because Padikkal has waited 631 days for another Test opportunity since his debut against England in Dharamsala in early 2024. Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out of the series with a toe injury, opening a place in the top order.

Monica Wright, the estranged wife of Australia vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner, demanded that Cricket Australia remove Gardner from the leadership role over an alleged affair with teammate Georgia Voll. Wright said CA's silence implies support for the conduct.

Cricket Australia responded that it considers the matter private and personal, adding that all relationships within its workforce must comply with its Respect at Work policy. Gardner has received support from her WBBL franchise, the Sydney Sixers.

Irfan Pathan says Pakistan media published a fake story claiming he tried to interview Babar Azam and got turned down. Someone had taken a photo of a young Bangladeshi reporter who'd been refused and stuck Pathan's face on it. The piece picked up more than a million views on social media before the lie surfaced.

He spoke about it on JioHotstar's Cheeky Singles and shrugged it off. These things happen often enough that he doesn't bother answering each one — otherwise he'd never get on with his day.

Pathan played 141 Tests between 2003 and 2012, scoring 2,821 runs at 26.12 with one hundred and eleven fifties. With the ball he took 301 wickets at 29.85, including nine five-wicket hauls. In the IPL he turned out for Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, Rising Pune Supergiant and Gujarat Lions.

India are set to lose another player for the Sri Lanka Test series as Sai Sudharsan is unlikely to recover from a toe injury in time. The left-handed batter is undergoing rehabilitation at the BCCI Centre of Excellence after sustaining the injury during India A's tour of Sri Lanka last month.

Shaik Rasheed and Sarfaraz Khan have emerged as the frontrunners to replace Sudharsan. Rasheed recently toured with India A and contributed scores of 45, 63 and 20 in three innings. Sarfaraz has been at the Centre of Excellence for his fitness assessment for over a week. The selectors are reportedly worried about the lack of specialist batters in the squad.

Devdutt Padikkal scored 142 in the warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI and has strengthened his case for a place in the playing XI. India are already without Jasprit Bumrah, Washington Sundar and Harshit Rana for the series beginning August 15 in Galle.

KL Rahul was dismissed for 40 off 67 balls on the second day of India’s warm-up match against Sri Lanka Cricket XI in Colombo. Rahul tried to reverse sweep off-spinner Kesara Nuwantha but was beaten by the turn and bowled. Ravindra Jadeja joined Devdutt Padikkal at the crease with India at 96 for 2.

Padikkal reached his fifty off 61 balls with six boundaries and looked fluent throughout the innings. He and Rahul added 67 runs for the second wicket after Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for a two-ball duck to Vishwa Fernando. Rain forced an early lunch with India at 67 for 1.

Shubman Gill is unlikely to bat in the fixture after sustaining an impact injury to his right ring finger during training. KL Rahul led the side in Gill’s absence. Sri Lanka Cricket XI declared their first innings at 363 for 8 after fifties from Nishan Fernando and Ravindu Rasantha.

Tushar Raheja scored 102 off 52 balls, including eight sixes, to lead iDream Tiruppur Tamizhans to a seven-wicket victory over Chepauk Super Gillies in the TNPL on Friday. Raheja and Pradosh Ranjan Paul added 149 runs for the third wicket as Tiruppur chased down Chepauk's 205 with two overs remaining.

K. Aashiq had earlier scored 98 for Chepauk, but the home side could not defend their total. Left-arm spinner Mohan Prasath dismissed Mohana Prasath in a rare same-name dismissal during the match.

In the second game, Nellai Royal Kings defeated Dindigul Dragons by six wickets. Sonu Yadav took three for 24 and remained unbeaten on 19 as Nellai chased down 171 with 14 balls to spare.

Pakistan all-rounder Hamza Nazar got a two-year ban from all domestic and international cricket after the PCB ruled he gave incomplete and misleading information on his visa application. The board also slapped him with a PKR 1 million fine. A three-member inquiry committee heard his defence before delivering its findings.

The 27-year-old had played 16 first-class matches, 15 List A games and 10 T20s, scoring 1,005 runs and claiming 47 wickets. Last month the selectors added him to Pakistan's red-ball training camp in Lahore ahead of the two-Test series against West Indies.
