Joe Root says England learned in chaos after Pakistan series sweep
Joe Root says England learned from a chaotic summer and are well placed for South Africa after sweeping Pakistan 3-0.
England captain Joe Root said his side had learned from a chaotic summer and were well placed for the winter tour of South Africa after completing a first home series whitewash of Pakistan. England won the third Test at Edgbaston by eight wickets to sweep the series 3-0.
Root and Jordan Cox added an unbroken 128 runs on the final morning to chase down the target. Root praised the team's professionalism amid off-field issues and a change of head coach and captain.
Pakistan produced a fightback on the third day through a rapid 81 from Razaullah. Root said the resistance would benefit England in the long term by testing their response under pressure.
