Anaya Bangar has asked the BCCI to copy Cricket Australia’s rules after she won permission to play elite women’s cricket in Australia starting March 2027. The 25-year-old, daughter of former India player and coach Sanjay Bangar, received the green light in August under Cricket Australia’s transgender and gender-diverse policy.

She told Hindustan Times, “If BCCI can follow what Australia has done, that would be a wonderful thing,” and hopes the Indian board will open a route for transgender players. Bangar had sought clarity from the BCCI in 2025 but has yet to hear back. Cricket Australia’s policy sets a serum testosterone limit below 10 nmol/L for at least 12 months; her elite clearance begins in March 2027 once a blood test confirms the level stays under the mark.

Until then she can take part in Premier Cricket anywhere in Australia, as those matches count as community level. Despite online criticism, she said, “They haven’t experienced what I have,” and plans to continue her career.

Deep Dasgupta questions Yashasvi Jaiswal's wicketkeeping switch

Deep Dasgupta questioned why Yashasvi Jaiswal has begun wicketkeeping practice, calling the move irrational and unnecessary given India's existing options.

Former India wicketkeeper Deep Dasgupta has criticised Yashasvi Jaiswal's decision to begin wicketkeeping practice during the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2026-27 season. Dasgupta said the move raises questions about why Jaiswal feels the need to add the skill and how serious his intent is. He argued that a player cannot simply wake up one morning and declare an intention to keep wickets for India.

Jaiswal, who has established himself as India's Test opener but has played only 29 white-ball internationals since his T20I debut in 2023, practised glovework during Mumbai's match against Chandigarh. Mumbai captain Siddhesh Lad confirmed the 24-year-old wants to keep wickets for India and Mumbai, despite never keeping in age-group cricket. Jaiswal scored a 13-ball duck in that game.

Former selector MSK Prasad also advised against the move, noting that previous players who took up wicketkeeping had kept until Under-19 level. Prasad said India already has multiple specialist keepers and opening batters including Ishan Kishan, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson, making the addition of a new keeper unnecessary.

BCCI forms independent committee to run Arunachal Pradesh cricket

The BCCI stepped in to run selections for Arunachal Pradesh after internal disputes forced the state to forfeit multiple matches.

The BCCI has appointed a three-member independent selection committee to conduct trials for Arunachal Pradesh's men's and women's teams across age groups. Former Assam players Satya Gopal Chakraborty, Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Bora will oversee selections, with Khairul Majumdar serving as convener.

The move follows Arunachal Pradesh forfeiting its opening Ranji Trophy match against Nagaland amid a legal dispute between two factions of the state association. The team also forfeited matches in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy and Under-19 Women's T20 Trophy.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the decision aims to protect players from internal conflicts. Support staff appointments are expected by Wednesday, and the committee will have no outside interference in selections.

Keemo Paul takes five wickets as West Indies level T20I series

West Indies beat India by 24 runs in the fourth T20I in Hyderabad on Wednesday, levelling the five-match series at 2-2. Keemo Paul took five wickets to restrict India to 223 chasing 248 after Shai Hope's unbeaten 102 off 50 balls set up a total of 247 for three.

Paul said the absence of dew helped the bowlers maintain grip on the ball, and that slower deliveries worked on a surface that offered some grip. He dismissed Nitish Kumar Reddy, Prince Yadav and Axar Patel in successive spells to seal the win.

India had reached 60 without loss in four overs before Paul removed Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan in the fifth over. The series decider will be played in Bengaluru on Saturday.

Former India bowling coach rejects claims that current pace attack is toothless

Bharat Arun defended India's pace attack, saying it is unfair to call the unit toothless after they successfully defended 223 in the third T20I.

Former India bowling coach Bharat Arun said it is unfair to label the current pace attack toothless after India defended 223 in the third T20I against the West Indies. He noted that the bowlers had successfully defended a modest total in the previous match.

Arun said there are enough young bowlers in India who can swing the ball and that it is the responsibility of selectors and the team management to identify them. Captain Shreyas Iyer praised the bowlers for their clarity and decisiveness in defending 223.

India's inability to defend 250-plus totals in earlier matches had raised questions about the depth of the pace attack without Jasprit Bumrah.

Shanto rues missed chances in Abu Dhabi draw

Bangladesh captain Shanto said missed chances in the field cost his side victory in the drawn Test against Afghanistan.

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto said his side drew the one-off Test against Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi because of small mistakes in the field. Afghanistan batted for 142 overs to secure the draw at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium after Sediqullah Atal scored 111 and Rahmat Shah made 105 and 51. Shanto noted that Bangladesh had opportunities to take all ten wickets but could not close the game.

Qais Ahmed remained unbeaten on 49 and hit two sixes in the final over to help Afghanistan reach safety. With ten minutes left, he went down holding his left hamstring after blocking a delivery from Taijul Islam, an incident that drew comparisons to Gulbadin Naib's injury moment during the 2024 T20 World Cup. Bangladesh players appeared pleased with the situation at the time.

The draw ended a closely contested match in which both sides had periods of dominance. Shanto said the result reflected the fine margins that decided key sessions.

BCCI appoints selectors to ensure Arunachal Pradesh's Ranji participation

BCCI steps in to prevent Arunachal Pradesh from forfeiting further domestic matches amid internal disputes.

The BCCI has appointed a three-member selection committee to pick Arunachal Pradesh's men's and women's teams across age groups after the state forfeited its Ranji Trophy opener against Nagaland. The board's intervention follows a legal dispute between rival factions of the Arunachal Cricket Association pending before the Gauhati High Court's Itanagar Bench.

BCCI apex council member M Khairul Jamal Majumdar will convene the selection process. Former Assam players Satya Gopal Chakraborty, Jayanta Chowdhury and Deep Bora will conduct trials and select squads for the Ranji Trophy, Col CK Nayudu Trophy, senior women's T20 Trophy and Vijay Merchant Trophy. The committee advertised trials in newspapers to prevent local interference.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia said the board wanted to ensure no player was denied opportunities because of circumstances beyond their control. Arunachal Pradesh is expected to take the field against Sikkim in Nadiad from October 18.

Pujara says Kishan is delivering what India needs at No. 3

Pujara believes Kishan's impact should be judged by team contribution rather than personal milestones.

Ishan Kishan

Cheteshwar Pujara has defended Ishan Kishan's role at number three in India's T20I series against West Indies. He said Kishan is doing the job the team requires by maximising the powerplay and providing quick 30s and 40s when acceleration is needed.

Pujara noted that the top order is built around explosive players, so consistent big scores are not the primary expectation. He added that Kishan has shown the consistency across formats that makes him a strong contender for a Test spot alongside Rishabh Pant and Dhruv Jurel.

Former India opener Wasim Jaffer earlier warned Pant that Kishan is closing the gap and urged the keeper-batter to raise his performances in the upcoming domestic season and IPL.

Umesh Yadav urges BCCI selectors to provide clarity on India comeback

Umesh Yadav asked selectors to give players clear guidance on selection chances instead of leaving them uncertain about India recalls.

Umesh Yadav wants the selectors to say exactly where he stands. The 38-year-old, who last played a Test in 2023, says vague signals leave players guessing instead of planning.

He moved from Vidarbha to Punjab after the previous state gave him little help recovering from a ruptured Achilles. He pointed out that Mohammed Shami had Bengal's backing; he didn't.

Selection should rest on form and fitness, not age, Yadav argued, and clear answers would at least end the false hope some players still carry. He's still playing domestic cricket and still aiming to return.

India delay New Zealand tour selection over fitness concerns

Fitness issues for three frontline players have pushed back squad announcements for the New Zealand tour.

India's selectors are holding off on New Zealand tour squads until they get fresh fitness updates on Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana and Rishabh Pant. The ODI series opens November 4, the Tests follow on November 19.

Krishna felt left-hamstring trouble in the second ODI against West Indies and has been given three weeks to prove he's fit. Rana hasn't played since July; his return-to-play test is set for October 25. Pant's side strain rules him out of India A's four-day games starting October 24.

The management wants Rana in both formats as the seam-bowling all-rounder at eight. Krishna is seen as a vital piece of the pace attack. Squads will be named as late as possible before the October 28 departure.

Phoebe Litchfield ruled out of final ODI against Bangladesh with hip strain

Phoebe Litchfield misses the final ODI against Bangladesh due to a hip strain, with Beth Mooney set to open in her 100th one-day international.

Australia opener Phoebe Litchfield will miss the final one-day international against Bangladesh with a low-grade hip muscle strain. Beth Mooney will open the batting in her 100th ODI after Litchfield suffered the injury during her 71 in the second match.

Nicola Carey comes into the XI for her first match of the series, with Grace Harris added to the squad as cover. Australia have a 12-player squad available following earlier injuries to Sophie Molineux and Lucy Hamilton. The team is seeking a series sweep after winning the first two ODIs by seven and nine wickets respectively.

Litchfield's availability for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand starting Sunday remains under an injury cloud. Bangladesh made three changes to their XI, with Murshida Khatun, Sultana Khatun and debutant Disha Biswas replacing Marufa Akter, Nahida Akter and Fargana Hoque Pinky.

Sadagoppan Ramesh criticises Tilak Varma's lack of awareness

Sadagoppan Ramesh said Tilak Varma showed no awareness during the run-out that ended his innings in Indore.

Former India opener Sadagoppan Ramesh said Tilak Varma looked like he was taking a walk on the beach while the ball was still in play. The run-out in Indore left Ramesh stunned, and he questioned why neither batter stayed alert when the umpire stood far from the boundary.

Axar Patel grounded his bat, but Varma did not, and the decision went upstairs. Ramesh argued that distance from the umpire is exactly why both batters need to stay sharp.

Auqib Nabi buys Hyundai car weeks after India ODI debut

Pacer buys Hyundai after making ODI debut for India in 2-1 series win over West Indies.

Auqib Nabi picked up a Hyundai weeks after his India ODI debut in the 2-1 series win over West Indies. The 27-year-old made his first appearance in the second match at Guwahati and became the third player from Jammu and Kashmir to play for India after Parvez Rasool and Umran Malik.

A showroom video from Athwas Hyundai showed Nabi inside one of their cars, and social media quickly picked up on the moment. On the field his debut didn't go as planned — 84 runs conceded in 8.4 wicketless overs on a flat pitch. He also missed Jammu and Kashmir's Irani Cup clash, which they lost by 167 runs.

Nabi still took 60 wickets in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season and played a big part in their maiden title. He's now back in the 18-member squad for the preparatory camp starting Tuesday at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium, alongside Umran Malik, Paras Dogra, Abdul Samad and Abid Mushtaq. Jammu and Kashmir open their title defence against Madhya Pradesh, then host Vidarbha on October 18.
