Shreyas Iyer excited for historic India vs Japan T20I in Sano

India captain Shreyas Iyer said he was looking forward to the historic one-off T20I against Japan at Sano International Cricket Ground on Tuesday. The match celebrates 75 years of India-Japan diplomatic relations under the Sport 75 initiative.

Iyer praised the hospitality and culture after landing in Japan on Sunday. He said the team was excited to play in a new destination and noted that he never imagined lining up against Japan as a cricketer growing up in India. The squad includes Jasprit Bumrah, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan.

India were unable to hold their scheduled training session on Monday due to heavy rain from Typhoon Dujuan. Iyer said the team had seen limited footage of Japanese players and hoped the weather would clear for a competitive game.
