India reach 460 for nine on day two in Galle after Padikkal's 167
India reached 460 for nine at stumps on day two of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle. Devdutt Padikkal converted his overnight 131 into a career-best 167 before falling in the second session. Dhruv Jurel added 51 batting at number six on a turning pitch.
Sri Lanka's bowlers struck in quick succession after rain interrupted play, dismissing India's overnight batters and bringing the hosts back into the contest. KL Rahul added 82 before getting out. The pitch is beginning to offer the turn and bounce expected in Galle, but India still hold a strong position.
