Mohanty aligns with BCCI after the board demanded immediate elections in Odisha.
Pankaj Mohanty submitted an affidavit to the Odisha High Court backing the BCCI's call for immediate elections. He warned that any departure from BCCI rules would endanger OCA membership and funding.
The OCA had previously sought to defer elections pending clarity on the National Sports Governance Act 2025. Mohanty's filing noted that cricket has not been notified as a designated sport under the Act.
The last OCA elections were held in October 2022. Mohanty and two other office-bearers have exceeded the six-year term limit under BCCI regulations.
The club was penalised after the Grace Road pitch produced moving cracks and uneven bounce during the August match against Glamorgan.
Leicestershire have been handed a 27-point penalty and fined £5,000 after their County Championship pitch against Glamorgan was rated poor. The club lost the 19 points earned from the 42-run win and received an additional eight-point deduction, with eight more points suspended until the end of the 2027 season.
Head groundsman Callum Lewin cited hot weather reaching 35 degrees Celsius and an unscheduled one-day Bollywood film shoot for Sourav Ganguly's biopic four days before the match as factors that affected preparations. The Cricket Discipline Panel rejected the filming as a mitigating factor and said the club's approach to pitch preparation was unreasonable.
Match referee Ian Ramage documented 43 instances of uneven bounce in his report. Leicestershire have 10 working days to appeal the decision.

BCCI looks to replace Agarkar amid reported disagreement over Rohit Sharma's ODI future.
The BCCI has shortlisted former India wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel and Pragyan Ojha as the top candidates to replace Ajit Agarkar as chairman of the men's selection committee. Agarkar is unlikely to receive an extension when his contract expires on October 4.
The selection panel reportedly informed the board of their decision to move on from Rohit Sharma to focus on younger players before discussing it with him. This triggered a public clarification from BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia that contradicted the selectors' plans. The disagreement reportedly left Agarkar unhappy.
Under Agarkar's tenure, India ended its ICC trophy drought by winning the 2024 T20 World Cup, followed by the Champions Trophy in 2025 and successfully defending their T20 World Cup title in 2026.

The island's cricket authorities have set ODI status and a World Cup berth as targets in their new strategic plan.
Jersey have released a strategic plan for men's and women's cricket that sets ODI status and a World Cup appearance as goals within three years. The men's side currently sit top of ICC Challenge League A with five matches remaining and need a top-two finish to reach the 2027 Cricket World Cup qualifier play-off. A strong performance there would secure ODI status and a chance at the final qualifying tournament for the 2027 Cricket World Cup. Chief executive Sarah Gomersall said the island must dream big and that the men can compete with the best in Europe. She added that the women's side should aim to break into the top 25 of the ICC T20 rankings and sustain their position in Division Two. Jersey's men are ranked 29th and the women 32nd in the current T20 standings.
