Mumbai Indians appoint T Dilip as fielding coach for IPL 2027

Mumbai Indians has reshuffled its coaching staff for IPL 2027, bringing in Robin Uthappa as batting coach, T Dilip as fielding coach, Mitchell McClenaghan as bowling coach, and Dhawal Kulkarni as development bowling coach.

Dilip wants to turn fielding into an attacking weapon and build a unit based on trust and enjoyment. "A strong fielding side can change the course of matches," he said, signalling that MI won't treat the field as a secondary concern anymore.

Uthappa has already flagged the challenge ahead: MI enter the season as underdogs who need to rebuild fan confidence after years of struggle. The coaching appointments suggest the franchise is betting on specialist expertise and a cultural reset to turn things around.
