Hardik Pandya trade talks stall ahead of November 17 retention deadline

Pandya trade discussions involving multiple franchises end without movement before retention deadline.

Hardik Pandya took the Mumbai Indians captaincy in 2024 and watched the side finish ninth last season. Talks about moving him started in June when Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals opened discussions. Rajasthan wanted a straight swap for Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Chennai Super Kings joined the queue on July 1. By then seven franchises had asked about his availability. Mumbai Indians said they weren't trading on August 1. Delhi Capitals were still weighing a deal as late as August 10.

Pandya met Gujarat Titans in mid-August and made clear he wanted the captaincy if he moved. Chennai teased a possible trade in a video on October 27. Three days later reports said he had agreed to remain a player at Mumbai Indians.
